    Astronaut Gallery -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Astronaut Gallery is an unparalled exhibit outside Space Center Theater featuring the world's best collection of spacesuits. Astronaut John Young's ejection suit and Judy Resnik's T-38 flightsuit are two of the many spacesuits on display.
  • CHALLENGE GALLERY
    The Health Museum
    January 1, 2010- September 30, 2011

    CHALLENGE GALLERY , located next to the Amazing Body Pavilion's exit, dares visitors to perform at the top of their game, test their reflexes, master the wacky wire, flex their mental muscles and dance their hearts out. At each of the exhibit's six stations, visitors must use a specific muscle to complete the activity. Activities include Mindball, where the most relaxed player wins by pushing a ball toward their opponent using calm brain waves.

    Another activity in the Challenge area is the Dance Challenge. Players have a chance to show off their best dance moves as they test their muscle memory by stepping on lighted panels and following along with the on-screen performer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island

    – Moody Gardens recently announced the opening of Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island .The exhibit chronicles the Port of Galveston’s largely forgotten history as a major gateway to American immigration from 1845 to 1924. Forgotten Gateway builds on a growing scholarly and public interest in the history of migration patterns to America and Galveston’s place as one of the nation’s top immigrant ports in that history.

    “This exhibit is the first of its kind to explore Galveston’s legacy as a port of entry on a national scale,” said John Zendt, Moody Gardens general manager. “We are very excited to have it here on the island and bring to light the little-known yet rich era of Galveston’s history and just how important it was to the growth of Texas and the American Midwest.”

    Free Family Thursdays Beginning June 3, Free Family Thursdays during Summer 2010 will be sponsored by H-E-B and hours will be extended to 7 p.m. The extended hours will run through September 2.     Located on Galveston Island's west end, has resumed activities post Hurricane Ike. Though the south side of the park (beach side) remains closed, the park's north side (just past 13 Mile Road on FM 3005), is open with a Welcome Center, and a host of scheduled activities throughout the spring.

    With this behind-the-scenes journey through nasa's johnson space center, you may visit the historic mission control center, the space vehicle mockup facility or the current mission control center. before returning to space center houston, you can visit the "all new" saturn v complex at rocket park. occasionally, the tour may visit other facilities, such as the neutral buoyancy laboratory. you may even get to see astronauts training for upcoming missions.
  • Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum
    Ocean Star Offshore Rig & Museum

    The Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum is located on Galveston Island, Texas, less than an hour from downtown Houston, the world's petroleum capital.

    Visitors board the retired jackup drilling rig and view a video about the offshore industry. The museum features three floors of models and interactive displays illustrating the story of offshore oil and gas from seismic technology to exploration and production.

    Scale models of production platforms, actual drill bits and remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs) as well as videos and exhibits explain drilling, geology, seismic, well servicing and production. Following a leisurely tour inside the museum, visitors can take the skywalk out onto the drill floor of the rig, or visit the exhibits on the pipe deck from the first floor of the museum.

    STARSHIP GALLERY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The journey into space begins with the film "On Human Destiny" at the Destiny Theater. Artifacts and hardware on display in the Starship Gallery trace the progression of America's Manned Space Flight. This incredible collection includes: an original model of the Goddard Rocket; the actual Mercury Atlas 9 "Faith 7" capsule flown by Gordon Cooper; the Gemini V Spacecraft piloted by Pete Conrad and Gordon Cooper; a Lunar Roving Vehicle Trainer, the Apollo 17 Command Module, the giant Skylab Trainer, and the Apollo-Soyuz Trainer.
  • THE FEEL OF SPACE

    THE FEEL OF SPACE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Living in Space module simulates what life could be like for astronauts aboard the space station. A Mission Briefing Officer gives a live presentation on how astronauts live in a space environment. The presentation uses humor to show how the smallest tasks like showering and eating are complicated by a microgravity environment. A volunteer from the audience helps to prove the point. Beyond the Living in Space Module are 24 part task trainers that use sophisticated computer technology to provide visitors with the experience of landing the orbiter, retrieving a satellite or exploring the shuttle systems.

    Touch: The Science & Health of the Human Skin

    Touch is being developed in partnership with the American Academy of Dermatology and will be a 3,000 sq. ft. traveling exhibit that highlights the physiology, function, pathology, and sociology of human skin in a series of fun, engaging and educational exhibits. Learn what “type” of skin you have and how it reacts to the environment around you, the pathology and treatment of skin cancer, the art and sociology of tattoos and adornment, and watch a cut heal in super fast time on a giant hand. *Exhibit dates subject to change
