Natural Bridge Mining Co. & The Rock Shop This is Texas Largest Sluice, a must do, fun experience for folks of all ages.

A sluice is a series of troughs leading from a water-filled wooden tower. As the water runs through the troughs, bags of mining "rough" are emptied and sifted through screen trays the water washes away the dirt, revealing sparkling gems and minerals or even fossils and arrowheads. It's like panning for gold plus you get to pocket whatever you find! After discovering your gems and minerals, use the identification charts to accurately identify exactly what you have found. Watchtower Challenge

Be a part of the adventure at one of the largest public outdoor climbing towers and zip lines in Texas. Named in honor of The Watchtower formation in the North Cavern, this attraction stands 50 feet tall.

TEST YOUR CLIMBING SKILLS!

The climbing surfaces are built along two sides of the tower allowing four climbers to participate at the same time. The front of the tower is 16 feet wide provides moderate to hard levels of intensity. The side of the climbing tower is 12 feet wide and is easier for first-time climbers. Use your climbing skill to rise to the top of our Watchtower. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, you will find the climbing experience you are looking for. Once you get to the top, the view is spectacular. ZIP BACK TO LAND IN SECONDS!

Our museums are fun for all ages - we are historical, educational and fun! We also have a snack bar on premises serving, DipNDots ice cream, hot dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, soft drinks, coffee, etc. We also have an arcade area in our Wax museum lobby. .

Our Louis Tussaud's Wax Works features over 250 life-like wax figures in themed settings of Hollywood, History -Freedom's Journey-features a 66 foot handpainted wall mural depicting significant events over the last 100 years. It's truly awesome! Other themed sections include Children's Land of Make Believe, Heroes of the Lone Star, Heroes of Mexico, The Passion Of Christ, Horror and much more! Our Ripley's Believe It or Not! is the largest and newest Ripley's Believe It or Not! in the United States!

 South Cavern Adventure Tour

Much more than hands on. Get ready to get down and dirty. Experience a thrilling and physically demanding 3 to 4 hour excursion into one of the world’s premier caverns. Climb, crawl, rappel, explore – with only the light of your helmet to guide you. This is not for the weak of heart. Once outfitted with caving gear you'll be lowered by rope through a 160-foot well shaft. Travel approximately one mile, going down to 230 feet below surface level to the Fault Room which features one of the longest soda straw formations in North America – 14 feet in length.

Since 1956, the Brackenridge Eagle has chugged along the miniature tracks skirting the banks of the San Antonio River, as it makes its way through one of San Antonio¹s most popular parks. Generations of Brackenridge park visitors have ridden-the-rails past the San Antonio Zoo. It has braved several derailments, a couple of collisions, and even a modern-day train robbery during the summer of 1970.

On June 15, 2001, the San Antonio Zoo assumed the management and operation of the miniature train. There are three miniature trains that accommodate 363,000+ park and zoo visitors that ride the train annually. Adjacent to the train depot is a gift shop to purchase your train souvenirs and a café to ease your hunger after your train excursion.

Discovery Tour It's the original and Natural Bridge Caverns’ most popular tour, the Discovery Tour introduces you to an underground world of natural beauty and amazement. Travel through a half-mile of the largest and most spectacular show cavern in Texas. You’ll walk 180 feet below the ground, while listening to our knowledgeable tour guide. See awe-inspiring, ancient formations centuries in the making and still growing today, such as amazing stalagmites, stalactites, flowstones, chandeliers and soda straws. Take pictures along the way because this is one walk through time that you will never want to forget.

Illuminations Tour

 See some of the most rare and delicate formations found in Natural Bridge Caverns. This tour spans two huge underground chambers that are dramatically lit with a state-of-the-art light system using both light and darkness to enhance the experience. These passages are highly decorated with extremely rare formations, unusually long ‘soda straw’ stalactites, waves of ‘cave ribbon’ and a profusion of intriguing ‘welt and turnip shields.’ Another unique experience only offered on this tour occurs when all the lights are turned off and guests experience total darkness.

You haven’t truly experienced Natural Bridge Caverns until you have taken the Illuminations Tour. Sights on this tour include: Delicate Formations Soda Straws Cave Ribbon

Exhibits depict the history of the installation in chronological order from 1845. The history of the post is displayed in ten major periods of development of Fort Sam Houston. Each exhibit highlights important events during the period and includes the uniform, weapons and equipment of the soldiers and photos or other graphic media. Additional exhibits feature distinguished soldiers or units which have served here. Supplementary exhibits present topics of general military interest such as weaponry and military rations.

Born and raised deep in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, Luis Valderas is a prolific native son whose work frequently includes references to both modern and ancient cultural roots. In his ever-growing and evolving body of work, Valderas creates contemporary narratives, inimitably expressed through a filter of Meso-American myth and iconography, that chronicle the Chicano experience on the borderlands and beyond. This exhibit features 12 Valderas pieces, including El Sur Pacific—1945, an inlaid woodcut inspired by the stories his father told Valderas as a child about his experience serving in the South Pacific in World War II.

Welcome to the Texas Ranger Museum! The Former Texas Ranger Association and the Buckhorn Museum have joined forces to create the new Texas Ranger Museum. The 8000 square foot museum, opened in 2007 adjacent to the Buckhorn in downtown San Antonio, contains priceless artifacts documenting the history and lore of the Texas Rangers. In 1936, the Rangers opened a museum displaying treasured documents and memorabila. These objects are now housed in the new Texas Ranger Museum.

They tell the true story of the Texas Rangers. The story is told in three parts:

*The Ranger Gallery--Stephen F. Austin founded this law enforcement body in 1823. The Ranger Gallery is an explaination and exploration of the early history of the Rangers.

* Tales of the Texas Rangers--The courage and determination of the Texas Rangers is legendary. This area highlights events dating from after the Civil War to the present. Individual Rangers tell their well known and not so well known stories. The reason for the legend becomes clear.

 * Ranger Town--Turn-of-the-century San Antonio is recreated using additional bits of Ranger history. Ranger Town provides a walk through town and shares some of the experiences of the Texas Rangers!

The Rangers helped to define Texas. The Texas Ranger Museum shows why this is true.
