The completely updated museum has expanded eightfold to occupy 8,000 square feet and create a dynamic guest experience that portrays and honors the vast history of the Texas rangers, the world's most famous law enforcement agency. The new museum is a project of the former Texas ranger association and the Buckhorn museum. the Texas ranger museum is divided into three distinct venues.Ranger gallery begins the adventure and portrays the early history of the rangers originating with Stephen f. Austin's colony and the formation of the ranger force, thru the mid 1800s. Guests will then enter tales of the Texas rangers; a gallery of fifteen displays each covering a unique story that showcases the dynamic history of the texas rangers. These displays will be changed from time to time, thus providing repeat guests a new experience upon their return to the museum. The final stop in the museum is Ranger town, a recreation of old San Antonio that encourages guests to explore and learn more about the Texas ranger's fascinating story. Ranger town consists of eleven storefronts with names that transport the guest back to San Antonio at the turn of the century. Frost Bank, l. Frank saddlery, Charles Hummel gun shop, Hart's cigar store, and Albert's saloon are but a few of the historic merchants represented. Sound effects recreate the feel of this Texas town at the turn of the century. The centerpiece of ranger town is the Bonnie & Clyde exhibit, complete with a 1934 Ford restored to recreate the ambush of these most notorious outlaws. It is anticipated that guests will explore and enjoy the museum for approximately one hour. a visit to the Buckhorn museum will add another hour of captivating entertainment. Integrated with the two unique museums are the Buckhorn saloon cafe and the Buckhorn curio store creating a complete guest experience of entertainment, food and beverage, and shopping. ...hide description
