Barton Springs - an aquifer-fed pool which reigns as the city's premier natural treasure. In the 1700's the Tickanwatic Indians settled near the springs to have access to the cold, clear water. Many local legends have attached themselves to the springs. Today a dam retains a pool one-eighth of a mile long. The constant 68 degree waters offer one of the world's most delightful swimming and sunbathing sites. 512-476-9044 (DS).
