Seabrook and the Clear Lake Region are a rest stop for North American migratory birds in the Central Flyway.
Off Waterfront Drive, McHale Park enjoy an excellent location to view the western shore of Galveston Bay. Flotillas of American White Pelicans fish the waters in winter and adjacent marshes attract herons and egrets. Heading north on Todville, visit Hester Garden Park, where in late fall and early winter the evergreen plants attract any insect eating birds still remaining in the area. Further north on Todville Rd, Pine Gully Park offers a view of Galveston Bay, and within the trees, take time to look for migrant land birds.
The wetlands have been restored within this park, and should be checked for shorebirds including American White Pelicans fishing near shore. Other parks to visit within the Bay Area are Armand Bayou Nature Center - a 2500 acre preserve with three distinct ecosystems - Wetlands, woodlands, and tall-grass prairie - Grassland species such as Sedge Wren and La Conte's Sparrow are sighted here.
Look for Osprey during migration and in winter at Bay Area Park on Bay Area Blvd. On W. NASA Blvd., at Challenger 7 Memorial Park, an extensive
nature trail and boardwalk with eastern woodland birds and nesting White Tailed Hawks, is available.
